A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Greetings Members,
I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all that were in attendance in Lake Mary FL this past January. I am also grateful and humbled to have this opportunity to serve as your President for the next 2years.
My goal for this organization is to build on the great work of our past presidents by continuing to provide the best training. Over the past 22 years, I have seen a lot of changes in vehicle thefts. Our goal is keep up with these changes, and to do so we have to stay current with the new trends and the best way to accomplish this is through training.
I have also seen a shift in the way many agencies allocate resources to investigate auto theft crimes. There has been a decline in auto theft task forces/units and more and more general assignment detectives are being tasked with investigating these cases. Auto theft investigations are complex and require specialized training. During my term as President we are planning training schedules that will not only offer specialized training in our specific field, but will also apply to other investigative areas.
Just a reminder, FATIU members will be assisting, teaching at, and attending the 43rd Annual SEIAATI Auto Theft Conference. The conference is going to be held in Delray Beach, Florida. I am looking forward to seeing you all and please visit our website for additional information and updates often! You can also follow us on Facebook, where you can see submissions from LEO across the state. All training announcements can be found on our website, and we are now accepting payments for membership online as well.
Thank you,
Your President
Walter Robinson
